Teacher Workshop
On February 23, the Ocean Institute invites you and your family for a fascinating day investigating Marine Mammals off the coast of Dana Point. The majestic and sometimes elusive Pacific Gray Whale is migrating along our coast on the way to the lagoons of Baja. With a little luck, we may also see dolphin, seals and sea lions.
The day begins in our conference center with our very own Captain Mike Bursk providing a dynamic introduction to our local marine mammals. Mike's talk will highlight his research examining the effects of public whale watching on whale behavior. During the talk, children ages four through twelve will participate in fun, hands-on activities to learn more about our local marine mammals.
Next, we'll board the R/V Sea Explorer and head out to sea on a search for marine mammals.
